Discover Musical Instruments is an application that, as its' title says, allows students to discover different instruments. Students can go through the many instruments that are pictured in the application and then click on them to hear what the instrument sounds like. This application is very simple, but it accomplishes its' purpose very well. It includes a range on instruments that are very well known like the guitar and the piano, and also includes instruments that children might not be as familiar with such as the oboe and the tambura.
In the classroom teachers can use this application in many different ways. One instance this application could be used is when teachers are talking about music around the world. Teachers may not be able to actually find the instruments for the students to see and use in person, but this application can provide students with a visual image and the auditory sound of the instrument. Music teachers could use this application when they are introducing new instruments to their classes. Schools will not have access to each type of instrument that is featured in this application, so it can be used as alternative to having the instrument in person. Students could also use this application in their own free time just as another activity to play. A group of students could create their own music using the different instruments.
I liked this one as well, but students seldom seem to choose this one.
