Science- Gravity 2 Application

Gravity 2 is an application that allows students to explore how gravity works. This is a game where students try to get a ball through different obstacles in order to hit a red button. Students have to set up the course to make different things hit the red button. Students will have to figure out how gravity works and use the tools provided to guide the ball to hit the button. As students work through the levels in the game, the task gets more and more complex. There are more parts to the obstacle and there are more tools added to help the ball push the button. On some levels there are magnates, so students can learn about magnetism as well. This game is fun, because while students are playing it they might not be realizing what they are learning about gravity.

I would use this application in my classroom. If I used it I would want to make sure we talked about what they were discovering about gravity. This way they are not just playing the game for fun, they are using metacognition to think about what they are learning through playing the game. Elementary students could play this game to discover how gravity works. I like that students are able explore and figure out how gravity works using this fun game. I think this game would be a great way to introduce students to a unit on gravity.
